Yongnian, Hebei
Yongnian, in Handan, is often called China's fastener capital. Its fastener expo centre has hosted trade fairs since 2004. Many small workshops and larger plants work side by side, so quality varies. Ask which factory makes your order and which processes it runs in-house.
Haiyan and Wenzhou, Zhejiang
Haiyan grew around standard fasteners for export, and nuts are a large part of its output. Wenzhou has a long record of family-run fastener firms, many with overseas links. Both are close to the export ports of eastern China.
What "Top 10 manufacturers" lists do not tell you
Many Top 10 lists are published by one of the suppliers on the list, and few show how companies were scored. Treat them as a starting list. A supplier's fit depends on your standard, grade, finish, quantity and documents.
- Ask for a mill test certificate and an inspection report from a recent similar order.
- Check whether heat treatment and plating are done in-house or subcontracted.
- Ask who issues the certificates and which factory site they cover.
- Order samples and test them before you place a large order.
