Materials & standards

Control the specification.
Then compare supply.

Use precise references for materials, mechanical properties, geometry, finishes and documentation. Any alternative should be identified and approved in writing.

01

Material definition

State the required material specification, grade or governing standard. Availability is confirmed during quotation.

02

Mechanical requirements

Provide strength class, hardness, test method or acceptance criteria instead of relying on appearance alone.

03

Finish & environment

Define coating, color, corrosion requirement and service environment so a suitable process can be reviewed.

04

Documentation

List inspection reports, material documents, traceability and packaging labels required for the order.

Reference standards

Name the exact standard and revision.

Standards such as ISO 4017 or DIN 933 may be relevant to an inquiry, but the page does not assert availability across all dimensions, materials or classes.

Avoid shorthand ambiguity

Include the full designation and identify deviations. If an older or market-specific specification is required, state that explicitly.

Define document expectations

List any requested material, inspection, traceability or compliance records. Their issuing entity, scope and availability must be confirmed for the order.
