Typical published installation data
Values below come from one published metric wedge anchor data sheet and show typical proportions. Every manufacturer's anchor is slightly different: on your order, the technical data sheet of the anchor supplied governs drilling, embedment and torque.
| Size | Drill Ø (mm) | Drill depth (mm) | Embedment (mm) | Fixture hole Ø (mm) | Max. tightening torque (Nm) | Inquiry |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| M8 | 8 | 65 | 45 | 9 | 15 | Quote this size |
| M10 | 10 | 70 | 50 | 12 | 30 | Quote this size |
| M12 | 12 | 90 | 65 | 14 | 50 | Quote this size |
| M16 | 16 | 110 | 80 | 18 | 100 | Quote this size |
How to choose the length
Anchor length = fixture thickness + minimum embedment + nut and washer thickness. A longer anchor than needed is fine as long as the hole is drilled deep enough; a shorter anchor will not reach the embedment the load data assumes.
- Example: a 10 mm base plate on M12 anchors with 65 mm embedment needs at least 10 + 65 + about 15 mm for nut and washer, so an M12 × 100 or longer.
- Drill at least as deep as the anchor length minus the fixture thickness so dust at the bottom does not stop the anchor.
- As a rule of thumb, keep anchors at least 10 diameters apart and 5 diameters from an edge unless the anchor's own data says otherwise.
Finish by environment
| Finish | Where it is used |
|---|---|
| Zinc plated (5–8 µm) | Indoor, dry concrete: racking, MEP supports, internal steelwork |
| Mechanically or hot-dip galvanized | Outdoor and damp locations, car parks, external steel |
| Stainless A2 (304) | Outdoor where chlorides are low |
| Stainless A4 (316) | Coastal, swimming pools, chemical and food plants |
Approvals and load data
Load capacity depends on concrete strength, embedment, spacing, edge distance and whether the concrete is cracked. Projects in Europe often require anchors with a European Technical Assessment (ETA); North American projects may require ICC-ES evaluation. Approved anchors are quoted only when the producing factory holds a valid approval for that exact product, so state any approval requirement in the RFQ. General-purpose anchors without approval are common for non-structural fixing.
Packing, shipping and documents
| MOQ | 500 pcs per specification; mixed sizes can be combined on one order |
|---|---|
| Lead time | 10–15 days for stock items, 25–30 days for production orders, confirmed in the quotation |
| Export packing | Inner boxes or bags labelled by size, export cartons, then palletized and stretch-wrapped; buyer labels and barcodes on request |
| Shipping ports | Tianjin, Ningbo, Shanghai, Shenzhen |
| Incoterms | EXW, FOB, CFR, CIF, DAP, DDP on request |
| HS code reference | HS 7318.15 is the usual starting point for steel anchor bolts; some customs authorities classify expansion anchors under 7318.19. Confirm the final code with your customs broker. |
| Certificate of origin | ACFTA Form E available on request for buyers in ASEAN countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines |
| Order documents | Commercial invoice, packing list and inspection records agreed in the quotation |

- Material and finish: zinc, galvanized, A2 or A4
- Approval required (ETA / ICC-ES) or general use
- Packing: boxes of 25/50/100, cartons, private label
- Quantity per size and destination port
Frequently asked questions
What size drill bit do I need for an M12 wedge anchor?
A 12 mm bit. Wedge anchors are installed in a hole the same diameter as the anchor; the fixture hole is usually 1–2 mm larger (14 mm for M12).
Can wedge anchors be used in brick or hollow block?
No. Wedge anchors are designed for solid concrete. For brick and block, use sleeve anchors or chemical anchors with mesh sleeves.
How deep should the hole be?
At least the anchor length minus the fixture thickness, and never less than the embedment required by the anchor's data.
Do you supply ETA-approved wedge anchors?
Only when the producing factory holds a valid ETA for that exact product. Tell us the approval you need and we confirm it before quoting.
What is the MOQ for wedge anchors?
Reference MOQ is 500 pcs per specification. Standard sizes typically ship in 10–15 days and made-to-order sizes in 25–30 days, confirmed with each quotation. We reply to every RFQ within 2 working hours.
