DIN 931 / ISO 4014 hex bolt weight chart (kg per 1000 pcs)
Partial-thread hex bolts with the standard reference thread length b (2d + 6 up to 125 mm, 2d + 12 up to 200 mm, 2d + 25 above). A DIN 931 bolt is heavier than a DIN 933 bolt of the same length because the plain shank carries more steel than the thread.

Nuts, washers and threaded rods
The calculator uses the published weights in the nut, washer and threaded-rod charts. Open the full chart for every size:
- Hex nuts: DIN 934 weight per 1000 pcs in the DIN 934 hex nut chart; ISO 4032 nuts are slightly heavier where they are taller.
- Flat washers: DIN 125 weight per 1000 pcs in the DIN 125 washer chart; DIN 9021 large washers are calculated from their dimensions.
- Threaded rods: weight per metre in the DIN 976 threaded rod chart.
How the weight is calculated
Bolt weight = head + threaded length + plain shank. The head is a hexagon prism of width across flats s and height k with a small allowance for chamfers; the threaded length uses the published weight per metre of DIN 976 threaded rod; the plain shank of a DIN 931 bolt is a solid cylinder of the nominal diameter.
Treat the results as planning weights for cartons, pallets and freight. Commercial weights vary a few percent between makers, and the packing list of the actual shipment controls customs and freight documents.
From weight to cartons and freight
- Export cartons for fasteners are usually packed to about 20–25 kg so they can be handled by one person.
- A pallet of cartons typically carries around 800–1,000 kg; heavier loads need stronger pallets.
- Sea freight for LCL shipments is charged on weight or volume, whichever is greater; fasteners are dense, so weight usually decides.
